The main focus of this program is research into the consequences of diseases with an acute onset, such as stroke, characterized by an abrupt loss of self-reliance in daily functioning. The research is aimed to develop and evaluate interventions to restore independence in daily functioning as well as to predict and diagnose problems that hamper optimal recovery and to develop and evaluate interventions to prevent or reduce these problems.
