Collaboration in the region

Sustainability is one of the spearheads of Utrecht Science Park and Utrecht Oost. UMC Utrecht works with Utrecht University, HU University of Applied Sciences and other organizations in a sustainable, healthy environment for living, working and recreation. The knowledge developed on sustainability and life sciences can be used in the area itself. Utrecht Science Park is thereby a testing ground and a showcase for innovative applications for healthy urbanization. Utrecht Science Park aims to be a driving force for 'Healthy Urban Living', for now and in the future.

MVO netwerk zorg (CSR network care) focuses on a sector-wide transition to sustainability. UMC Utrecht has joined MVO netwerk zorg, signed the Manifesto and participated in the first MVO Expeditie Duurzame (CSR Expedition Sustainable Care). Together with other care institutions and leaders in the business community, we are working on innovative concepts and products to make sustainability tangible, cost-effective, good for people and the environment, and to create better health for society. Through the 'Green Deal Nederland op weg naar duurzame zorg’ (Green Deal Netherlands Toward Sustainable Care’ initiative, we are also pursuing sector-wide sustainability to ensure that 80% of hospitals and 50% of other health care providers will have taken systematic steps to make their business operations sustainable by the end of 2018.
